Social Distancing

Personal-Public Reflection

Why did I just see Floyd Money Mayweather at the local Chase Bank? Mans had on the Comme Des Garcons dri-fit, shirt was so smedium. I ain’t see him til I was leaving, thought the bank was busy when I walked in but it was just 8 niggas in TMT hats waiting around. That’s when I first thought, “the economy might really be in trouble.” They looked ready to withdraw enough money to compromise the integrity of the building. I’m walking out he sitting down, looks me dead in my eye, smiles and says how you doing? I’m faded off an edible, running late to a meeting, and confusion personified. I tell mans I’m good and kept it pushing instead of dapping him up cause he might have the ‘rona. We live in strange times. Any other day of the week Floyd is getting the sturdy dap up. Virus got me second-guessing instinct. Everybody saying wash your hands, don’t touch nobody, don’t go outside — I think the most important thing we can do is protect our mental.

Can’t let the virus distract from the mission. We entered the year with the clearest intention. So, let’s stay disciplined? Create new rituals and focus on healin’

Ironically, this is a weird a preview for the future social media has been normalizing before social distancing became so overtly encouraged. Facebook is having a field day right now. It encourages the question, ‘What types of systems/economies are built to withstand and remedy a disconnected human experience?’ It’s my hope that we continue to cultivate the closeness and togetherness that we seek in these most divisive times.

Your thoughts are so powerful, please be mindful about which of them you feed.

p.s. — This has been quite the turn within the ‘Okay, Boomer’ conversation.
