A diasporic collective learning initiative that exists decidedly outside the confines of academia, higher education, and imperial school systems. Driven by the spirit of figuring it out together, our intuitive pedagogy creates conditions for collective dreaming in order to remember intuition and restore indigeneity.

The ITS-IN-SCOPE Archive Caretaker Fellowship was designed to empower intuition and reward the curiosity of local artists and archivists. The fellowship includes six months of collective learning, studio practice, and communal exhibition. Fellows explore our intuitive pedagogy and identity information to be shared and archived in an exhibition of material artifacts, visual essays, and audio records.

Our second cohort of this fellowship program began in Autumn 2023 and was guided by former fellow, Altagracia Alvarado, in collaboration with founding archive caretaker, Marvin James. Iterating on our pilot program, this cohort’s season of study included both weekly online sessions exploring our pedagogy and offline sessions offering moments of hands-on praxis at Memoryhaus 555, Sika’s, the California African American Musuem, Kenneth Hahn Park, and other sites of cultural significance in Black Los Angeles. The fellows studio practice continued through the winter culminating with a Spring 2024 presentation at The Salt Eaters Bookshop in Inglewood, CA.
