Really wonderful to hear other people's reflections on Love, as I simultaneously feel like a child (beginner) and am elder (deep sense of knowing) when it comes to this human phenomenon. hooks' concept of committing to our own and one another's spiritual growth feels like the closest definition I have encountered. "The highest form of love is understanding." Love comes in all shapes and forms. Phill talked about the history of the ubiquitous red heart symbol and it got me thinking about reading about the structure of the human heart being more like a vortex than a pump. This makes me think of the intelligence of the body and its architectures, and the shape of the (my) spiral path being a spiral rather than a straight line. We return to the same localities, hopefully with new perspective and greater capacity to hold as the spiral widens outwards and deepens inwardly. Love is one of the localities that I am asking to revisit continuously. I am not perfect at loving, I am a student of love.
