Review: Movement

Movement is constant. We are surrounded by movement in nature, in material, in time. New life is phased in and out simultaneously. Change is inevitable and to adapt is survival. Tradition is to remember, a space to be grounded when we’re prompted to change. Rituals are a connective tissue that connects the past to the present, and helps us decide what will be preserved or replaced moving forward.

Movement requires presence. An understanding of specific movements that are needed depending on current environments and needs. When there is a change in need, there needs to be a shift in movement. This shift may feel uncomfortable, and feel similar to improper technique which can result in injury. Presence in movement helps us differentiate between what is uncomfortable or misalignment. To not know the difference can result in a loss of range in motion or muscle memory. Tradition and movement together provides the muscle memory to values.

Tradition without movement brings stagnation - if not applied to a current context how does it connect to the future?

Movement without tradition brings stagnation - if not grounded in a value or framework how does it mature?
