New Africa, Mississippi

Review: Abundance

My grandmother was born in New Africa, Mississippi, it was so deep in the fields she said she wouldn’t know how to get back there. I tried to Google it and see if I could help guide us back there one day but I couldn’t find anything either. This begs the question, “Is my G-mommy lying, or is Google?” If you think for 1 second my granny’s ‘telling stories’ it’s fair game for a fade but truthfully, right now, I don’t give a fuck about having my history validated by whiteness or search engines. 23andme ain’t going to carry me home, capitalism is not a Jorja Smith song, I’ll have to make my own, and we’ll have to share to own. So if we can’t go back to New Africa, Mississippi, how do we go forward to it?

P.S. If you do find something or want to join in the study let me know, G-Mommy said to call Walter and ask him but I thought I’d ask y’all too, studygroup@itsinscope.com.
