For a Los Angeles screening of Mati Diop’s critically acclaimed film Dahomey, the film’s distributor, MUBI, invited Black cinema clubs Be Reel Black Cinema Club and We Are All We Watch to program the screening alongside ITS-IN-SCOPE. We developed a research artifact to support movie-watchers in diving deeper into the film’s central theme of repatriation. The trifold pamphlet published was printed for all attendees and defined cultural repatriation, provided a curated reading list, and offered discussion questions to continue conversation after the screening.
